A visit of Dr. Francis Gurry, DG (WIPO) to Intellectual Property office, Delhi |

Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) visited Intellectual Property Office, Delhi. He also visited the Front Office and other sections of the Patent Office and Trade Marks Registry and enquired about the working of the electronic modules. He was appraised by CGPDTM Shri P.H.Kurian about the posting of 2.33 lacs records of the patent documents on the website. He also stated that this data can be shared with WIPO under the data exchange MOU. During his visit, Dr. Gurry also met the senior officials of the Patents and Trade Marks office and highlighted the importance of working in the Intellectual Property Office. He expressed his keenness in operationalisation of IPO as International Searching Authority. The CGPDTM informed that this would be possible by June, 2010. Shri N.K. Sabarwal, Deputy Director General WIPO and Shri N.N. Prasad, Chef De Cabinet also accompanied DG during this visit. |
